UK Game Releases May 2012
Leaving behind the rather uneventful month of April we move on towards a bright, game filled future with May's up and coming releases.
First up we have Sniper Elite V2 coming to Xbox/PS3/PC on the 4th. For those that haven't played the first Sniper Elite it's a game that, funnily enough, puts you into the shoes of a Sniper. Set in World War 2 the game has you sneaking your way through various scenarios across war torn Europe with a heavy emphasis on realism. V2 promises to bring you all this and more with enhanced game play features such as a co op mode and a new "X-Ray" kill cam showing players all the gory details as the bullet goes through your targets.... Nice!
Next up we have Starhawk. Due for release on the 8th for the PS3. Starhawk first comes across as a western set in space or maybe space set in a western, who knows, either way it looks to be a good romp through the galaxy as an outcast gunslinger. Starhawk boasts a new type of gameplay for first person shooters in the form of a "Build and Battle" system allowing players to "Violently" drop weapons and ammunition onto the battlefield at any time. So if you run out of ammo just drop some on the other guys head, sorted.
After 12 years of waiting the next instalment of the Diablo series has finally arrived. Coming to a PC near you Diablo 3, set for release on the 15th, looks to bring back all the dungeon crawling goodness of the previous titles with updated graphics, gameplay, classes, weapons and pretty much anything else that can have the word updated in front of it.
Out on the 18th for Xbox/PS3/PC is Max Payne 3. Max Payne 3 has taken a different direction from its predecessors and has lost that film noire look and feel and has opted for a more GTA look (The box art at least). The third instalment follows Max's inability to forget his loved ones and his addiction to painkillers forcing him to take a job in Sao Paulo in Brazil totally not for a vacation. The new game looks to contain all the great bullet time sequences that made the game popular and is the first in the series to include a multiplayer mode but these days that's like announcing the pope is catholic.
Next on my list is Ghost Recon Future Soldier set for release on the 24th for Xbox/PS3. The newest game to have the Tom Clancy sticker on it looks to be an awesome mix of tactics, stealth and pure unadulterated fire fights with an arsenal of weapons and future technologies such as optical camouflage and the ability to see targets through walls, no it's not a hack you can see enemies thanks to an Augmented Reality based on real-time battlefield intel. Don't expect to find any enemies then.
Last but not least we have Sniper Elite V2.....Wait, sorry it's Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. Going full circle we finish on a game that has you sneaking about popping skulls from miles away. Unlike the first Ghost Warrior, number 2 has you sneaking around a jungle in a different country. The game is using the same engine as Crysis 2 so expect a lot of pretty visuals and stunning slow-motion head shots. Ghost Warrior 2 looks to be released towards the end of May.
So that's that for the round up of Mays game releases. Hope you all enjoy whatever it is you decide to play, I'm sure Benedict the Sixteenth is going to have a blast playing Max Payne multiplayer.
